Augmentented Reality App Interio
In just 4 months, the first AR app in the furniture industry with a direct shop connection was developed for Interio by the Migros Cooperative Association and went live in spring 2018. The project was initiated by Yves von Ballmoos, then range manager of Micasa and Interio. Together with Phil Grieder, he managed the project on the customer side and was responsible for the content.
Interio took third place with its augmented reality app in the «Master of Swiss Apps 2018». In addition, Interio was awarded silver in the «Business Impact» category and bronze in «Augmented & Mixed Reality» and «Design».
DIGITAL FURNISHING CONSULTANT Interio
In spring 2018, Interio launched a novel, three-step online tool that offers consumers photorealistic 3D renderings, furnishing suggestions and style tips to help them purchase new furnishings.
Yves von Ballmoos initiated this innovative tool and managed the project from idea to launch. With an off-shoring structure, the processes could be set up so lean and efficient that, for example, customized 3D renderings could be offered for CHF 49 within 48 hours. In the same time, entire furnishing proposals based on a style check to be filled out by the customer could be offered for only CHF 149.00.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT HUATIAN FURNITURE (FUJIAN) CO. LTD
The Chinese furniture manufacturer Huatian has been supplying low-priced furniture to Europe, mainly to France, for 20 years. To gain a foothold in the German-speaking market, we developed four different collections for Huatian in cooperation with the Hamburg-based designers Kressel + Schnell, from side tables to sideboards. We also developed two great outdoor collections with the designers, which will be launched in 2021.
PRIVATE LABEL CONCEPTION AND CURATION Edition Interio
As part of the relaunch of the Swiss furniture chain store Interio, Yves von Ballmoos developed their own brand Edition Interio into a renowned and internationally respected collection. Within 12 months, over 30 products were developed from scratch in collaboration with international designers such as Sebastian Wrong, Hoffmann Kahleys, Atelier Oii, Christophe Marchand, Tina Stieger, Christoph Jenni, Markus Bangerter and many more.
SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY Micasa & Zingg-Lamprecht
Yves von Ballmoos recognised the emerging relevance of sustainability as early as the early 2000s. At the medium-sized design furniture store Zingg-Lamprecht he built up a far-reaching three-pillar sustainability concept (ecology, economy and social issues), which was subsequently also ISO certified. Zingg-Lamprecht was thus able to successfully position itself as the first Swiss design furniture store with sustainability.
Micasa, which is embedded in the Migros Group, already had an excellent basis due to the group’s sustainability strategy. This was sharpened by Yves von Ballmoos as part of a sustainability strategy explicitly geared to the furniture business and supplemented with specific measures. This strategy was implemented step by step from 2020 onwards.
Concept Store Minotti (BY ZINGG-LAMPRECHT)
Brands are becoming more and more important in the furniture trade. In contrast to other industries, however, there are very few that are known to a broad section of the population and are able to successfully convey their brand essence. As CEO of Zingg-Lamprecht, Yves von Ballmoos recognised the corresponding potential of the Italian luxury brand Minotti. In 2014, he built the first Swiss Minotti Concept Store in a prime location in Zurich on 300 m2. From the outset, expectations were exceeded and the concept store subsequently developed into a very important pillar of Zingg-Lamprecht’s business.
M&A CONSULTATION Colombo la famiglia
As part of his succession planning, Ivano Colombo commissioned Yves von Ballmoos in autumn 2019 to support him in the sale of his Colombo la Famiglia AG. In the following weeks, we evaluated the company, prepared a set of arguments, edited the contracts and coached the patron during the entire negotiations including the post-closing phase.
PRODUCT RANGE DEVELOPMENT ZINGG-LAMPRECHT, MICASA & INTERIO
Irrespective of positioning and company size, Yves von Ballmoos managed and developed the Zingg-Lamprecht, Micasa and Interio ranges. The individual ranges were classified according to style, price range and operational and strategic relevance and were further developed in line with current trends. The company’s own trend spotting was just as important for this as cooperation with market and future researchers, designers and industry experts.
